American actor and musician Awkwafina began her career with hilarious songs that dealt with racial identity and sexuality with an incisive and humorous perspective, before broadening her reach to Hollywood. The actress was born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrants from Forest Hills Queens her first encounter with the world of music was through the trumpet. After a classical and jazz education She delved into hip-hop when she was an teen. At college, she was studying writing and women's studies. Then, she even had a short time studying Mandarin during her time in Beijing. The focus changed to music once she graduated. My Vag, her My Vag song, My Vag which was her response to the Mickey Avalon song My Dick, became a popular viral sensation on the Internet and eventually appeared on her debut LP Yellow Ranger. Some other hits that went viral included Queef song and the winking NYC Bitchecity tour. The track that was second on the album linked to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide, published in 2015, which was a different idea. Alongside being a published author, her other career was as a performer. Apart from early series like Girl Code and Tawk she was also in films such as Neighbors 2 Storks and Bad Rap. In 2018 she was able to land breakthrough roles in a handful of high-profile films like Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. Her EP came out, in Fina We Trust in June in the same year.
